Belk Printing Technologies has long been a proponent of incorporating a “green” approach to our printing process. Coupled with the environmentally safe products from our vendors, we’ve created “Extreme Green” as a choice for our clients – providing options to help them do their part in the green movement.

Below you will find several options for “going green.” You choose which make sense for your business.

The Paper
Selecting recycled paper has always been the first thing companies think of when they are trying to be more environmentally friendly. However, using recycled paper isn’t the only solution. Belk Printing Technologies is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified which means we’ve joined with pulp and paper companies across the globe to promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests. Choosing FSC Certified paper products lets you meet your current business needs without compromising the future.

The Process
There are several opportunities for reducing the environmental impact of the printing process. Traditionally, the printing plates created for your project require chemical processing to prepare them for use on our presses. At your request, we can use ECOMAXX-T “no process” plates from Fujifilm that offer consistent quality without the use of chemicals. In fact, this plate system features the smallest environmental footprint in the industry.

The inks and coatings selected make a difference as well. Belk Printing Technologies can utilize Superior Ink’s vegetable oil based Biolocity inks and Prisco’s aqueous coatings to eliminate the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the process.
